is there any known problem with removing the rear tank. i never use it due to rust. i need to take it off to make some repairs and i would just as soon not put it back. any ideas or problems will help make my decision. thanks
I'd just make sure you can't switch to the rear tank, and I would assure that you plugged the supply and return lines at the switchblock on the left framerail. And maybe somehow 'idiot proof' the filler so another driver doesn't dump a mess 'o gas on the ground trying to fill the non-existent tank.
I have seen replacement tanks pretty cheap, in fact, if your pump and sender were good, those cost a lot more than a replacement tank. So, if you were worried about re-sale in the future, you might want to consider the option of replacing the tank.
You could always save the parts and do it at a later date, if you choose.
