Antivirus advice

I sent a word attachment to one of my school team partners and she said it contained a virus. I have VirusScan and it has been updated, but it doesn't turn up any viruses. What should I do?

What do you guys use for Antivirus protection?

I use Norton. It hasn't failed me yet.

Ditto...
but my only concern is that even with Norton and Ad-Aware...
periodically my hard drive goes crazy for no apparent reason....
as if something is scanning it...
I've checked the task and see nothing unusual...
I hope it's my "office" IT group doing this to auto update but am unsure...
Have told them it is a very bad practice to do things in the "background" such that we don't KNOW what is hitting our systems...

I have McAfee. I guess it does its job, but I have always gone with norton. McAfee was what came bundled with this Dell. If you want to run a secondary search of your computer, you should check out http://housecall.trendmicro.com
