Post Reprogram anti-theft system

I replaced the battery in my 97 explorer and now my anti-theft system will not activate. Keypad and remote keyless will not also work. How do i reprogram the alarm, keypad and remote to work again. Please can anyone help me.

Round up all your remotes and get in your Explorer. Turn your key from off to run (without starting) 5 times leaving it in run the last time. Your locks will lock and unlock. Press a button on each of your remotes (any remotes that you don't press a button on will no longer work). After the last remote, turn your key off.

I've seen this before with seven times etc. None including what you wrote here work on the 1993 I have.
I am holding the official Ford published electrical and vacuum digrams and trouble shooting book right now.
No where in it does it say anything like this. It does say to short pins ten "10" and fifteen "15" on the connector 337 which is on the anti theft module and you can program it much like you said but nothing about the igniton switch but to have it in the run or accessory position.
I'm going to type what is in the book below.
I'm tired and sick so typos will not be corrected.
Here goes. Good luck!

Page 7-11 section 111 (continued"
Transmitter programming
Before any of the remote features will opearate, the RKE Module must be programmed to accept signals from the transmitters. The RKE Module may be programmed to accept signals from up to four transmitters. The following steps must be performed, in order to program or reprogram the RKE Module to respond to the selected transmitters.

1. Put the igniton switch in RUN or ACCY and momentarily jumper the two program connector terminals. The system will respond by locking then unlocking all doors.
2.Press any button on the transmitter. All doors will lock and then unlock to verify transmitter acceptance.

3.repeat step 2 to program the RKE Module to acceept up to four transmitters.

4. Turn the ignition switch to OFF. All doors will then lock and unlock.

5. Operate a button on each transmitter to verify that the system has been programmed successfully.
Sorry for the typing but I'm sick and very tired. This is on page 7-18 section 111 (continued)
OKAY a little more!
On page 17-19 Section 112
Disarming the System
To disarm the system a front door can be unlocked with the key, or or the remote Keyless Entry UNLOCK code can be used. I don't have this option.
Unlocking a front door with the key provides a ground path through an Anti-Theft.
Disarm Switch and the (DGP) wire to the module. This ground signal disarms the system.
If the driver arms the system and reamins in the car, "all doors closed", the system can be disarmed by inserting the key in the ignition Switch and turning the switch to ACC or RUN. The battery voltage applied to the module on the 296 (W/P) wire disarms the system.
Note W/P is wire color "white/Purple", 296 is the connector number in the schematics which as an electronics engineer I find to be rather poor.
Nothing near the electronics standards. Just something Ford made up.

That's all I can do now, hope some of you get some use from this babbling.

you realize this post is 16 years old ?? AND, every few years they change the procedure on recognizing keys and remotes.. You have to have the CORRECT procedure for YOUR truck.. Normally that is in the operators manual.
