Hi,
Im looking into buying a 1994 limited. It has the sunroof in it along with all the standard features. This truck only has 65000 miles on it. I know the current owner well and trust what he has to say so i know im not getting a beater. Ive seen it before but never had a chance to really drive it or anything. Hopefully in a couple of weeks were going to test drive it. Does any one have any suggestions as to what to watch out/listen for?? The owners son works for heartz and just got a brand new explorer limited at tremendus savings.
hahah thanks ide love to have a sunroof
what i really want is a convertable but a mustang wont cut it in the winter so the next best thing is a sunroof! i just dont wanna start wearing dipers again hahah
Hey I just found this BB and I own a 94 Explorer
Some things to check on it seems most I have seen have these problems.
1. Rocker panel rot starting at the rear of the rockers.
2. Passenger side - front of hood rot, from rolled seam underneath.
3. Take it for a half hour ride let it warm up good and then push it a little hard up a hill- listen for ping - I have heard all kinds of fixes for this and most of the time it keeps coming back.Dont ask me I havent figured it out yet myself!
4. Vibration at 50-65 mph ? same thing!
5. A bit loud on the throttle.
6. Front brakes seem to wear rather fast(rears are working)
Other than those things @ 135,000 I still love mine.
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 25-Aug-02 AT 03:37 PM (EST)]Ya i saw one this weekend that had really bad rocker rot, i dont believe the one that im looking at to have any rot at all, i believe its just a couple of minor scratches. I thought i read somewere that if you get a 93 or 94 w/ABS that they were putting on 4 wheel disc, is this true. Another post stated no changes at all and i havent had a chance to realy look at any. I would love to have 4 wheel disc and would plan on doing a drum/disc swap if it didnt already have it. As far as being loud on the throttle i dont mind that. i have an 88 f-150 with the old I-6 so it should seem alittle quiter. I plan on running a dual cat back anyways.
