P1500 - Vehicle Speed Sensor?
Situation: Truck has been running great, just got back from a roadtrip last weekend, and my buddy has been taking it back and forth to work (2 miles each way). He came home today and told me the truck wouldn't idle. He got it started and home by keeping his foot gently on the pedal when he needed to. I went out and observed the same thing. I could idle it anywhere from 500~1500 or more, but if I took my foot off it died.
I got out my code reader (Superchips programmer for an '02 Mustang GT 4.6L which has a built in OBD II reader). The only code in it was P1500, which in the small Superchips instrutions says "Vehicle Speed Sensor" but this is the "Industry Standard Table", not a listing for a '98 B4000 4x4 Auto. I cleared the code. Truck did the same thing the first time, then cranked over normally and ran fine. I just took it around the block, stopping at a few Stop Signs to let it fall to idle and it did fine.
1) Is this just a fluke, or is this problem going to start haunting me?
2) Are the instructions correct in saying it is a VSS? If so what and where is this?
3) Is this a clean the IAC type of fix, or a get me a young priest and an old priest kind of fix?
I need the truck this weekend, so any prompt replies would be awesomely awesome.
Thanks,
Jim

If the IAC is the culprit, I'd just replace it. Cleaning the newer ones rarely does anything.
You might also try removing the negative battery cable for 20 minutes or so which will clear the idle air trim values stored in KAM, allowing for a new "learning process" to begin. If you do end up replacing the IAC, then you should definitely do this.
I never cleaned the IAC, guess I'll give that a shot.
