Hi guys, I'm working on my daughters '94 Ranger that initially had a lot of hesitation, missing, and lack of power when you accelerated. Regular tune up stuff, including fuel filter, did not really help.
What did make a big difference is when I clean some crud off of the MAF. The truck was running pretty good for awhile. Now some of the hesitation on acceleration is back again, and I'm thinking maybe I should replace the MAF, instead of just cleaning it.
The truck has 108K miles on it. It sat for almost a year while she was in Iraq. Think it is worth replacing the MAF sensor?

Reason: corrected
You didnt say which engine but if she is going to keep it for awhile then yes I would. I cleaned mine and then had problems so I replaced it. Autozone was the cheapest place I found it, dont remember to cost right now.
Usually cleaning with a cleaner that leaves no oily residue behing takes care of the problem. Carburetor and brake cleaner work well, as does electrical contact cleaner containing no lube. Use an artists brush, followed by drying with compressed air.
pour a bottle injector cleaner to help clean the injectors, and probably check your oil condition in daughter transmission, when has last time it was serviced?
The label inside the hood, and the VIN number, say it's a 3.0 engine. When I got ignition wires at Autozone, the ones that "clip on" the distributor, was listed by them for a 4.0 engine, so I'm a little confused.
