i got my deck installed and i ran the rca cables to the amp and then i ran the remote wire to the amp as well. i got the power and ground wires working and the power light on the amp comes on and when i play music nothing is comming out of my 2 rear subs. were i pluged the rca cables to in the back of the HU it said rear. so do i need to disconnect the factory rear speakers in order to get the subs to turn on or do i have some problem with the wiring from the amp to subs. thanks for the help.
also the amp is pretty old and were the rca jacks are on it , it says line levle input. there is also a speaker levle input port witch i did not use becasue i figured the RCA jacks would take care of that. from the speaker levle output port i ran the wires to the speakers. does all this sound correct or do i need to use the speaker input port? thanks for the help
What kind of amp is it? If its a multichanel amp there might be a switch to select which chanels you want to use. If its a two chanel amp it should have a bridge switch and a certain way to hook up the sub wires to get the bridge feature to work. Check your wiring inside the box something might have come loose. It could also just be a bad set of RCA's. Try using the speaker outputs from the HU and hook it up to the low level input of the amp (disconect RCA's) and if you get sound you've got bad RCA's.
It could be alot of other stuff (bad outputs from HU, blown subs, ect.) but this one way to start troubleshooting. Good luck.
thanks for the help , im ogin to hook it up and again and try adjusting the the dial on the back. its a 2 channle amp
i could also try the holes that the wires are in thanks for the help
You might have a selector on the radio that turns the rca's on.
You said you hooked your subs up the the speaker "level" output? If it says speaker level output thats a pass thru. You need to hook the speakers up to the speaker output.
Playboy is correct, when i first started on my system (like 2 yrs ago and now its an earthshakin **** ) i made the mistake of not checkin my deck handbook and see if there is a certain way to turn my rca's on. It turned out to be the reason my subs weren't working. Its a pioneer and most of them have something to turn the rca's on so if thats the case check it out.
P.S.
If it is a Pioneer 3500 radio, turn the NOFADE option on, in the handbook for the deck it says to look for a SUB W option on the screen in the audio options but trust me, i had that radio for my first system, it is the NOFADE option in tha audio options on the radio that turns the subs on.
