The directions very clearly call out which colors in the Prodigy to to which colors on the factory Ford harness. I suspect that Chevy, Dodge, and Ford each have different colors on at least some of the wires in the harness.
If there was a standard for the wire colors, I'm sure that Tekonsha would have used them for the Prodigy.
I guess it is a buzz kill but trying to save someone some grief and money. The prodigy is a great product and I guess no one has a standard harness color wise. INstallation was very easy though only about 1/2 an hour. Most of that was making sure the colors were correct. before hookng up the controller. They have a warning in the manuall that incorrect wiring may damage the controller.

Moreover, I thank you very much for posting something that is extremely important.
well has anyone hust bought the prodigy complete harness for install vs just the pig tail that came with it? Seems that this would be the easier way to go and then if something is wrong they might stand behind it. They only appear to be less than $10.
Th prodigy comes with a harness and your truck, if it has a tow package ought to have a pigtail that mates to the connector underneath the dash. The wire colors still don't match although it is discernable by reading the manual, the wire functions on the wires, and the pigtail instructions. IT was easily doable about 1 on a scale of 5 just make sure you read directions.
I am just back from a 4300 mile trip during which I pulled a 30' 7070#( I scaled it) Fleetwood travel trailer to Cedar Point Amusement Park and back home. The Prodigy controller worked wonderfully. From interstate to winding two lane roads in the Smokies the braking response of the trailer was great.

Ceder Point................I am a true blue roller coaster freak....love them
... and I want to get to CP some day. Is it everything they say???
My experience with the Prodigy (which I really like), or really Tekonsha. Had my Prodigy about a year, three weeks ago, about 500 miles into a 3500 mile trip mine started acting funny. Diagnostic LEDs were indicating the unit had a problem. I thought great, now what am I going to have to go through to get this thing repaired, probably better off just buying a new one. Called tech support, they confirmed there was something wrong and said "lifetime warranty, doesn't matter where I bought it, just take it anywhere they sell Prodigy's". I thought sure.... Took it into the first place I could find (had no paper work with me), 10 minutes later walked out with a brand new one.
