Brake Controller - control 3 axles ?
Adding a third axle to my dual axle 5th wheel toyhauler... was told I may need a different brake controller by someone on a different forum.
At first I thought they were talking about the one in the truck but I would guess the truck brake controller can handle atleast three axles worth of brakes. Now I am wondering if I have another "control box" on the camper somwhere.
I see many people pulling 3 axle trailers and I would assume you have brakes on all 3 axles. Am I good to assume the stock Ford brake controller can handle 3 axles with brakes on all of them ??
Does a trailer/toyhauler/camper have another "control box" somwhere that regulates the brakes as well ??

I have had three axles on my 2007 and my 2011 Nuwa HitchHiker Champagnes, the 2007 had Dexter branded disc brakes, the 2011 has a Carlisle disc brake actuator.
The closest thing to a control box in the trailer would be the electric to hydraulic actuator if you have disc brakes. Otherwise, if you have electric (magnetic) brakes, the wiring goes straight from truck to brakes.

My only thought is that you could possibly need to raise the circuit to a higher amp rating. Like, if it's got a 20 amp fuse right now, might need to change it to 30.
I have no idea if adding a third pair of brakes to the existing two already there will effect your gain setting. It should not, you shouldn't have to raise the gain and ideally you would need to lower your gain with the extra braking potential there.
You should send RVTech a pm.

Thank you for all this info !!
I can't get the "toy" weight far enough forward over the axles in my toyhauler. I checked on moving my dual axles rearward but the decision was made to just add a thrid axle.
In adding a third axle it will also involving moving the current rear one back to accomidate the triple axle equalizers.
Adding it solely for weight distribution, not looking to add capacity.
It is being done at the factory who made this frame.
