Hello all, I have an 01 Ranger XLT 4x4 that has the "grayish" plastic honeycomb grill. I like the design of the grill, and can't find a chrome one, so have decided that I want to paint it chrome. I know nothing of spray guns or auto painting, so this would have to be done with a "rattle can". Can anyone recommend a specific paint, and primer, to give me a good and lasting finish? Also, any tips that would help a novice spray paint plastic? Thanks a lot for the help!
Been trying to locate por 15 catalog received not too long ago and seem to recall they have a section on plastic paints. If memory serves me, there were a variety of colors to choose from but not sure if offered in 'rattle cans'. Suggest check out their web site, they may not have what you are looking for but they usually provide some instructions/suggestions on how to use their product. Imagine cost too much to have the plastic chromed.
you probably won't find a brilliant shiny chrome paint like they use on the grilles. The factory probably dips them somehow much like you would chrome metal parts. The closest color you would probably get is silver with metallic. Proform makes a paint specifically for use on plastic and stands up well.
There is a place that will chrome plate just about anything, including plastic. If I recall correctly (oh that hurt) their name is like "Pauls Plating" or "Pauls Chrome", something along those lines...
