Painting Plastic Chrome Mirror and door handle covers?

Can you paint these? I want all my door handles, and the mirrors to be the same color of my truck. I want to paint it myself, so I figured if I just bought the chrome plastic covers you can get, and stick them on painted, I would not have to worry as much about screwing up the paint job.
Will the paint stick?
Anyone do this before?
If you have painted mirrors, plz post pictures.
thanks!

The paint won't stick without some good prep work. You'll have to scuff the surface of the "chrome" pretty well to get some adhesion for the paint. What were you going to use to apply the paint..rattle can or a spray gun?

Also, the covers are just stick ons that apply over the black plastic handles (at least they are in my truck) and they don't replace the entire assembly. You might actually have better luck painting the existing black plastic.

i am not liking the idea of painting the actual door handles themselves because i will have to sand them down.. So once i start sanding them, there is no going back, dont like that idea, too permanent lol
