I'm not much of a "hot sauce" kind of guy. I had an experience on my stag with some "Dave's Gourmet Insanity Sauce" back in November. I haven't touched ANY hot sauce since.
Well, yesterday at a bar with some family and friends, we were eating some appies and my cousin got a hold of some "Frank's Hot Sauce." Well, it sure wasn't as hot as the Insanity sauce I had before, so it was pretty good. At breakfast this morning, I tried some Louisiana sauce on my eggs and pan fried potatoes. Not bad.
I think I'm gonna try some more on different things now. Maybe even some of that Insanity sauce, but in smaller quantities.
You better not give me any hot sauce unless you want to see a person completely lose his dignity by running around screaming like a girl.
Nahh, just kidding. I don't really care for hot sauce unless it is dip for chips.
Some call me a tabasco nut. i've even been know to put tabasco in my coffee.
Chris
Funny you mention that. Yesterday, my cousin was telling me of his plans to put some Franks on his breakfast CEREAL!!! Someone mentioned curdling the milk because of the vinegar and he says "Who puts milk on their cereal? I use yogurt."
I dont much care for Tobasco..it seems to have more hot and less flavor than some others..but if youre wanting to try new things, try a little Tapatia sauce in your Corona.
i never was a big hot sauce fan until i joined the navy sometimes the only way to eat the crap that they call food especially what comes from the galley onboard a ship is to drown it in hot sauce so you cant really taste it
If you're just starting to explore the world of hot sauce, Louisana or Crystal are good choices. Use a few drops in soup and while you're cooking. It won't really be hot, but will add to the flavor. Eventually you can graduate to the hotter stuff. I don't like hot for hot's sake, but rather hot with flavor. There's a lot of different flavors out there, but you have to learn to accept the hot part first. A good brand that a Mexican guy I used to work with recommended is El Yucateco...the red, not the green. I figured if Jose' used it every day, it's got to be good...and it is. I've seen it on the tables of some Mexican restuarants too. Its made from habanero peppers, so go easy at first.
Hot sauce is fun, and I guess its good for you too.
I like hot with flavor, not just plain heat. Unfortunately, hot sauce doesn't always like me, so I don't get to use it like I used to. I'd have to say my favorite at this point is a Tabasco product, but it's not the original--it's a chipotle sauce (made from smoked jalapenos). LOTS of good flavor to it. I put it on about everything, too--eggs, biscuits and gravy, stroganoff, chili, it's all good. Just be careful if you get ahold of some habanero sauce. I got a little carried away with that stuff once--it was hotter coming out (if you know what I mean), and I wasn't "right" for a week.
I really like a hot sauce from a pepper that grows in St. Augustine, Florida-- the Datil pepper. Really good flavor and hot but not nuclear hot. I like the brand "Datil Do It". Yumm!
I used to watch the black guys put Tabasco all over their fried chicken in the mess hall. At the time I thought they were ruining their food. Later in life I tried hot wings. They were definitely men ahead of their time. I can eat hot wings until I hurt myself. I like all different kinds of spicy sauces on just about anything.
I've been hooked on hot sauce since I was a kid, my parents used to put hot sauce in my mouth when I swore so I got to like it early (after they found out I liked it my dad swiched to the lava bar soap from his workshop). Franks red hot is good stuff, I saw my uncle drink a whole bottle of that stuff at his bachelor party. Daves Insanity sauce is dangerous stuff, we compared it to the pure capsasin that we distilled from habanero peppers in organic chem class and they were both more than enough to wipe out your taste buds for a long time.
04LariatSuperCrew's dad makes killer hot sauce. It will make your eyes water and your mouth burn, but it is good. I like tabasco habarnero sauce, regular tabasco tastes alot like vinegar to me
Yeah, I got a bottle of Dave's Insanity sauce as a stag gift. All the guys pooled some money and bought it for me from Sammy J Pepper's.
I thought (when I poured it out onto my plate) there would be a little nozzle like the one found on Tobasco. The stuff came out like ketchup. So I tried dipping my steak in it, someone bumped my arm and got all over the piece of steak. Well, I figured "how bad could it be?" I was okay for about 5 seconds. Then I had to down the rest of my beer, then a full pitcher of ice water, then the remaining beer in the half full pitcher after that. Took about 20 minutes to get over it.
Much swearing caused red ears and disapproving looks from other patrons. Ha ha.
