I can handle Daves Insanity, it's hot, but nothing compared to Dead Heat. Comes in a coffin shaped box. Holy cow! It brought tears to my eyes.

I love hot sauce but this is the hottest stuff I have ever tried. Its called Possible Side Effects. A little dab on a tooth pick had my mouth on fire, sweating, and turning red.

When I was pregnant with my last tater tot 9 years ago my craving was jalapenos and habaneros. I wanted them on everything from steak to pancakes. I couldnt get enough of the little buggers and the hotter the better. Guys at the livestock auctions would look at me like I was a sick and twisted puppy when I sat with my jar of jalapeno slices and a fork. Made their nachos look sooo wimpy. Tobasco was a dream come true. I added it to my dr pepper. My daughter was eating spicy foods from the get go. She wanted jalapenos on her nachos when she was two. I am kinda a spice wuss now but my little one isnt. We all laugh about it when we look at the pics of me and my "jar" but when we talk about Tobasco in my DP we are like what in the hay was I thinking?

Although I am not a huge hot sauce nut, I am partial to Melinda's Habanero sauce. It is hot, but the heat fades quickly. It is really tasty, though.

I had bought a bottle of Dave's insanity sauce for a hot-sauce-nut friend named Dave. Never saw him for the longest time. My wife opened it and put a liberal dose on a pizza, thinking it would be like the Melinda's. Yikes! I ate about a slice and a half, then cried uncle. Real waste of a good pizza.

Cheers,
Eric

I don't like overly hot sauce either. My favorite is "Louisianna Hot Sauce". As hot sauce goes it is pretty mild, but I like the vinigar taste. Don't know if you can get it every where. Big seller here in Okla.

Yeah. Lots of times. I've been to the one in Langley and the one in Coquitlam. When you come down here for your lunch on me, we'll go there.

I usually go to the one in Coquitlam because it's close to the Ford school.
Usually the servers there aren't too ugly too

The sauces like Dave's are good for seasoning things like stews and soups. A little goes a long way. These sauces are really more of an extract concentrate rather than a chili sauce. I don't care for the concentrates much not necessarily because they are too hot(they are a little), but because they have a bitter Bell pepper after taste.

I prefer the sauces that have pureed chilis like Habaneros and Serranos etc. Melindas, Iguana etc are all good. I often check out www.mohotta.com as a good reference of the sauces out there. Their old webpage was easier to check out long lists of sauces by heat level. the new page only lists a few per page and takes longer to read and isn't so obvious about heat level. Still a good reference.

Habaneros have a really good flavor and add to many dishes. Drop a whole Habanero into a stew pot or spaggetti sauce and it will give a good flavor with only a little heat. Chopped up Habanero in a marinade also leaves a good flavor and a mild afterburn on the lips.

I liked the Tabasco Habanero sauce but don't seem to be able to find it in the stores anymore, hmmm. I do see it on their webpage and I gotta try me some of that Garlic sauce.

Habaneros are great peppers, excellent taste! I once took a bet with my uncle that I couldn't eat a whole fresh habanero pepper, it hurt but I won $100. I made a batch of chili this weekend and I cut the stem off of a serrano and threw the whole thing into the pot seeds and all and let it stew (mostly bell peppers, jalapenos and anaheims in the chili chopped up). I got the whole pepper in my bowl so I ate it in one bite, man was that an experience!

The Tabasco garlic is wonderful. I really like it. Too bad I can't find it in the big bottle.

ever heard of "da-bomb"? that stuff is crazy!! My personal favorite is franks, but i used to be hooked on tabasco. When i had a headache, instead of taking advil or something i'd just get a small cup of tabasco and down it would go. Hurt like the dickens, but it sure did get my mine off that headache. I didn't have any congestion during that era either... i wonder if it's connected somehow?

Some crazy hot sauce names:
kick-@ss hot sauce
devil's own hot sauce

i'll try to get a pic of my hot sauce collection... get 'em in airports and stuff just for the heck of it
