Hello all!! I'm new to the sight and think it's great!!!.... After doing some searching on the aerostar front end install I haven't been able to come up with measurements or etc. on locating the centerline of the aerostar subframe. I was going to use the volare clip and they set it up 1 inch farther forward to compensate for frontend drop on the no limit video. But since getting on this site and seeing the aerostar setup the volare clip idea went out the window, I wanna keep it all FORD!! And I also need a rough idea on ride height [bumper height] I've seen pics of installs with and without frame notching. I am going to be installing this under my 54' with a 460 engine and c-4 trans. Any help would be great!!!! Thanks again Ken
Hi Ken, I don't know if you have checked my gallery, I have pics of the Aerostar install. I don't have the body on yet so I can't give you a ride height that real. I am useing a 4.6 d.o.h.c engine that is all aluminum, so it will be lighter than a 460. The front axle is moved ahead 1 to 1.5 inches to center the wheel in the fender opening. I used a level and a plumbob to find the center of the Aerostar crossmember, it's very close to the hole that the shockabsorberrod sticks through. Ozzie
I am planning on about a 2" notch and, if I try to keep the lower arms roughly parrallel to the ground which should be relatively easy with air bags, this puts the top of the bumper about even with the spindle. As indicated, I'm in the planning stages ( for about a year ) and I haven't done any cutting to the frame yet.
