crankshaft position sensor question

the other day i accidently broke the pigtail wire that comes off my crank sensor. the truck is running fine, but a little rich. will there be any problems if i just leave it? and what is that pigtail for anyway?

I'm not familar with the pigtail but I would repair it, no reason not to, I bet your running in a fault mode.

It could, yes. In general, the computer would rather have your engine running a little rich as opposed to running lean, so that (rich) would be the more likely scenario in default mode...

Did you get any lights indicating a fault? Are any lights blinking on the dash? If not, I would fix the wire and keep running. If so, fix the wire; remove the neg terminal on the battery for a few minutes, and keep running.
