Supercrew Tailgate

I'm looking for a aftermarket Tailgate for a Ford 2001 Supercrew
everywhere I look, NOTHING, all Fleetside
I heard that Ford has the patent on the taillights or something like that
I'm wonder if the Tailgate is the same
any body know what the story is ??

Why do you want an aftermarket tailgate? The brake lights are not part of the tailgate, they are a part of the bed. The think the difference between the styleside and flairside(supercrew) tailgates is probably the width, since the flairsides are more narrow. But I'm not 100% on that, you should try to get a meaurement of yours and then on a styleside.

Yes, the SCrew tailgate is the same as the Flairside (Stepside). I believe the tail lights are also interchangeable. You can use the Lightning pieces if you want.

Yea, that's right. Flairside and Supercrew tailgates are the same, but are they the same as the Styleside (no fender flairs on the outside of the bed)? The brake lights are definately not the same on the stylesides as on the flairside/supercrew.

Have you price out a new OEM tailgate ?for a supercab very much $
you can buy for a fleetside for abot $100.00 and painted for $179.00
I am looking for new tailgate if you know where let me know

Still not sure why you need a tailgate, did it get damaged? Have you tried a salvage yard, you might get lucky there.

Yes, the tailgate is damaged, my 4 wheeler fell out, and bent the tailgate

I do not want to claim on insurance, so I am looking for an aftermarket tailgate
to replace it with, I can not find, aftermarket does not have, Ford has a patent on the size of the tailgate and the aftermarket can not make or something like that, is what some people have told me.
I like to know if anyone else has heard of this ????????
