Installing a Trip Computer in an XLT

My 1998 XLT 4 door did not come with a Trip computer from the factory. Can these be installed? Anyone know if the wire harness is usually already installed and just waiting for the components? What would be needed other then the actual computer.

Anyone know if the wiring is there if it wasnt purchased as a factory option. (97 XLT) Thanks.

I do not have it in my 97, and I do not believe they prewire for it. I have taken my console out numerous times, and there is nothing there for the computer. The only wiring there is for the controls in the rear of the console...
