Well I went for a estimate for some rust removal on my PU. Rust is in the usual spots. I'm wondering about other options
94 F-150
option #1 -rust removal re re effected areas somewhat costy with no guarantee's rust won't show up in other spots down the road
option #2- I heard you can buy complete skins for the box. Hard to replace? just plug welded or spot welded on? is the project very involved? (never done body work but I'm a metal fabricator/welder)
option #3 keep my eyes peeled for a decent box on the market

If you go with opt 2 & 3, there is no guarantee opt 1 won't happen.
My choice would probably be opt 1 or 3. The deciding factor would be how extensive the rust was and whether or not the rust has affect the structural strength. If internal bracing was involved or if I had to replace large areas, I would probably go with opt 3.
Skinning a panel or replacing a quarter panel can be a lot of work. Especially if you have no former bodywork experience.
BTW, a fabricator/welder is a great background. If you can fit plate steel together, you'll be able to fit sheetmetal together. The principals are all the same. It's just a matter of learning the correct techniques.
My ford is just rusting in the usual spots- above the wheel wells, and a small part on the ower section of the box. I'll take your advise and go with option #1 thanks eh!

You might wanna price out the factory sides if you can, the cheaper ones will be a pain to fit, forgot about that one. Haven't had a chance myself because i am into an engine swap on my little 4x4. 3Tc Toyota into a Lada Niva.
