Hey fellas!!!!!! Here is a question I have been meaning to ask. What is the differance between snap on tools and blue point tools? Someone told me that blue point is the older snap on tools, but they still make blue point, right? My school has a ton of both, including blue point torque wrenches, snap ring pliers, ridge reamers, radiator pressure testers, pliers, cresant wrenches, etc. Is there a price and quality differance between snap on and blue point? I think blue point tools have a life time warrenty, would the warrenty be through a snap on dealer or do you have to mail them back to the company? As always, thanks for the help!!!!!!!!
Blue Point is just as good a quality tool as Snap On, but cheaper. Not really anything I can compare it to though. My first thought was Champion is to Craftsman what Blue Point is to Snap on, but that's not a real apple to apple comparison.
In SOME cases, the warranty is better, in other cases, the warranty is worse. Then again, some Blue Point air tools are made off shore.
It's really your preference though. I know a guy who swears by his Blue Point 3/8" impact gun.
I have a blue point tubing flare set which is nice although the tool bar bolt broke on it and I had to machine a new one. Other than that its been a great tool although I am not sure I would spring the 150 for it over the 30$ Ridgid again. The one thing I do have that has paid its way is a set or 2 of Snappy end wrenches in the smaller sizes. The tolerances are tighter and the flank drive works well where nuts tend to want to round.
the quality of the metal is better in the snap on tools... and im pretty sure all blue point tools are made overseas but the warranty is the same... thats what my snap on guy told me
Blue Point is a step down from Snap-On. They are mostly made over sea's electrical stuff and some wrenchs. Face it China can built it cheaper with slave labor and not have to worry about patends as well since they can't invent **** anyway. Just my 2 cents worth!!!
