What I have been told is that "all Snap On tools are made in the U.S.A." and anything that isn't 100% american gets the Blue Point label. That way they can say "All Snap On tools are made in the U.S.A." and still sell stuff that has overseas parts or assembly. As far as quality goes I have used my Blue Point impact pretty much daily for the last 5 years and have had no trouble at all.
Got a set of Blue Point wrenches about 10 years ago. They look identical to the Snap-On's except the chrome is a satin finish instead of the super-slick finish. They work just as well as the Snap-on set I had before that got stolen, but they were a little cheaper(but still not cheap).
Blue Point tools are made in the US and all over the world but the main difference is that they are not made by Snap On. As far as hand tools if it says Snap On they make it most of the time. I know that alot the extractors, drill bits, taps and dies have a Snap On label on them but they are made by outside companies. As far as air tools go Snap On are probably outsourced but they are not labeled under any brands. This is my problem with Mac tools they slap there name on anything and charge a premium price. So if you are spending thousands of dollars tools you might as well pay a little bit more for Snap On at least you do not have worry about seeing it in Blackhawk and Stanley form for 2/3 the price.

You would be suprised how many tools snapon smack their name on. For example, Martin body tools are sold under the name of SnapOn, Mac, Matco and others. Even the part number is the same.
