I had the codes pulled and it said I needed a new TPS, MAP, and speed sensor. I went and bought the speed sensor from the Zone but I can't find it anywhere on the truck. It's NOT the one that goes in the rear diff. I was told that it was on the transfer case but I don't see anything like it. I could really use some help with this.
First- just because they pulled the codes does not always mean you need that part! Ford pinpoint tests are designed to find the problem. One test on TPS is to jumper two of the three wires together to generate a diferent code- then you follow the next step- may be replace sensor-or repair shorted or open wire, or etc.We see alot of no EGR flow( so and so said I need an EGR valve and it didn't fix it) the repair is ussally cleaning EGE passages!! There is only one speed sensor on your Bronco and it IS located on rear diff. Late Explorers have two in transfer case.Beware of part stores telling you- Oh ya we sell alot of those, Get to know your Ford tech, and they will tell you if they put alot of this or that on certain year trucks.
I had the very same thing happen to me when my speed sensor went out, the brainiacs over at autoCLone gave me a speed sensor for a manual transmission and I went back to get the right one located inside the diff. It sucks when you waste your time on account of someone elses mistake.
