I replaced the one in the diff. Dealer tried to sell me one for the tranny. It had a cable connection and a harness plug. Can't see one on my tranny. (little dirty).
Do I have two?
Which one controls the tranny? and which one controls my speedo needle?
your dealer is wrong. You have one speed sensor. Your speed sensor is at the rear differential (it is sometimes referred to as the abs sensor) and besides that your speedometer is electronic and not cable actuated.
That is a weird one. I worked at a dealership for 11 years and there was issues with the taurus, explorer and ranger speedos jumping around between 45 and 65 but I have not heard of an F150 doing that. One of the stupid tests I came up with was to get the vehicle up to the speed in question and firmly bang on the dash above the cluster and see if I could make it jump around . If that causes the speedo to jump then you need a new speedo. They are quite expensive from ford, but I have seen them on ebay. Make sure that if you do need a new one to get one from a 93-96 F150 or Bronco as the 92 year has different wiring similar to the 87-91 trucks and not compatible with the 93-96.
