I know for a fact that replacement windshields are much thinner then the OEM. What might be happening with yours is there is not enough urethane under the glass to act as a cushion, they are simply using the wrong stuff, or too much. So, when the glass expands, it gets pushed into a solid wall of urethane, gets forced up, and cracks.
