I just had the windshield on my 2004 EB Expedition repleaced. The glass company that replaced the windshield had on the paper work that I have a 2003 Expedition. After driving my Expedition later that evening, it sounded like a wind tunel along the top edge of the windshield when I got above 30 MPH. I could feel the air when I put my hand along the top of the windshield.
The glass installer ether did a bad job installing the windshield or the 2003 and 2004 windshields are not the same size.
Does anyone know if the the 2003 and 2004 windshields are the same or different? I would like to know the answer before the glass installer comes back on Friday to fix the air leak.
well they are the same window size but what brand of window is it? it should be carlite the aftermarket windows they push are junk abosolute junk. i really doubt the installer did a good job doing it.
The windshield that was installed in my 2004 EB Expedition is some cheap aftermarket windshield by Crinamex. It is clear glass with a small hint of tint on the top. My daughter told me that just one man came to the house to replace the windshield. This guy had to be a superman to replace a windshield that big and heavy on an Expedition so high off the ground.
My original windshield was a Carlite Solar Tint windshield witch is completely tinted with even darker tint at the top. All the other windows on my EB are Solar Tint windows.
I plan to get with my insurance company and have them put my EB Expedition back to original condition with a Carlite Solar Tint windshield. There in no point in the glass company repairing the wind leaking through the top of the windshield since they have to remove and replace it with a Carlite windshield anyway.
they only hope you don't know squat about windshields. so they use the chinamex things which are crap. carlite is 312.00 for the solar tint windshield yet the imported one is 103.40 according to my friend who works for a reputable installer. if they can install the cheaper one they can pocket more money . they divide the remaining money half goes into his check the other to the company. so they make less on the carlite stuff.
I had a very nice chat with my insurance agent about my 04 EB Expedition not being restored to original condition with the clear Crinamex windshield. My agent contacted the auto glass company and informed them of their error. I got a phone call from the auto glass company telling me they will replace my windshield with a Carlite Solar Tint windshield.
The auto glass company gave me some crap about the glue they use that takes 7 days to dry and if they replace the windshield now, there will be a mess all over my dash. I have to wait until next week Tuesday before the glue is dry enough for the windshield to be removed. Some how I think I'm being punished for having them do the job a second time with the correct OEM windshield.
