I need some info. .I was given a 352 from a 65 ford f100 with an FMX transmission. I freshened it up and decided to put it in my 71 f100 4x4. I have the np435 manual transmission and I removed the 360. I went to put it in and I could not get it to mate to my transmission. What could be causing this????Is the end of the crank different??? I get it in enough to spin the shaft on the transmission but I am left with a 2" gap and no way can it be bolted to this engine. I even unbolted the transmission and had the block in the perches and still could not get them together. It felt as if the pilot hole on the crank was too shallow. Can anyone help me here????
isnt an fmx an auto....? Im not up on those i think i had a 66 fairlane with an fmx in it not sure oh it was cruis-o-matic. I dont have the foggiest my tranny is a t-18. whats different when you look at the back of the 360 as opposed to the 352? Maybe flywheel...... sorry i cant be more help these pros will get you hooked up soon.
Just out of curiousity since it wasn't mentioned. Did you actually take the flywheel off of the 360 and put it on your 352? Assuming you did, then the only other thing might be the pilot bushing in the crank might need to be changed to match what was on the 360. It should work.
Well if you took the flywheel, clutch off the 360 it should fit..measure the Diameter of the input shaft on the tranny,,then measure the ID..of the pilot bushing in the Flywheel and make sure the bushing ID is a little bigger than the pilot shaft...
And if that doesnt work..the only thing I can think of..did you use a pilot shaft line up tool to set inline your clutch, pressure plate and thro out bearing first? Russ
