C6 Auto Swap - Flywheel & Separator Plate

C6 Auto Swap - Flywheel & Separator Plate
Vehicle: 1966 F-100
Engine: 351 Windsor from 1971 Torino
Trans: C6 Auto Trans from Monster Transmission
I have removed the 351 Windsor from my truck as well as the T18 4 speed manual trans. However, while gathering parts for this swap I overlooked the separator plate for the C6 auto transmission. I have the manual plate but from what I read this will not work with the auto transmission.
Where is the best place to find the separator plate for my 351 Windsor / C6 auto trans?
Next, the flywheel I am trying to use is a 28oz externally balanced 164 tooth flexplate. The issue I am having is that the holes on the flywheel never seem to fully line up with the holes on the crank. I bought the flywheel based on what the engine was from which was the 71 Torino. I can get all 6 bolts started but then the flywheel won't push back onto the crank. It is as if the bolts are causing a bind. Below is the flywheel I purchased.

Anybody else ever have an issue like this or could the flywheel be wrong or possibly machined wrong?
Thanks in advance

Flexplate = Automatic Transmission
Flywheel = Manual Transmission
It does sound like the flexplate might be machined incorrectly. If it's made for a 351W but doesn't exactly fit a 351W - what else could it be?
This product is a fit for your:
1971 Ford Torino 5.8L 2BL 8cyl
<!-- in case of match, only show when checkfit parameter is true -->
Part Number: FRA-205
.

Good point for consideration. It always takes me six tries to get it right. Lol. Luckily the flexplate should be a lot lighter than the flywheel so he could spin it in circles until the holes line up.

Thanks for the info guys. I have always used the term flywheel as the general term whether manual or automatic. Just a force of habit I guess.
Thank goodness for the flexplate being lighter since the flywheel I took off was a boat anchor. As for the flexplate, I have rotated it many times and it does get to one point where it seems all of the holes line up.
However, one or two holes are just a hair off but it is in the position where they line up the best. Maybe the bolts I am using are causing it to bind. I will keep working on it and see since if I can get it since this is the correct flexplate.
Any ideas on a good place to find the separator plate for the C6 auto? I can't seem to locate one locally.
Thanks again

Thanks for the information Bill. You are always a huge help.
I do have a member here who has a separator plate available but it is from a 1980 Mercury Monarch. I believe these cars did have a C4 trans and the plate looks like the plates with the part number you provided.
Does a separator plate from a 1980 Mercury Monarch work as well? I just want to make sure before I buy.
Thanks again,
Mike

No other 1980 or later car uses the correct plate.

Well, possibly a change in parts needed due to new information.
Engine: 302 instead of 351W
Trans: C6 Auto
I was told the motor was a 351W when it was rebuilt many years ago when my parents owned the truck. However, after further investigation and some issues with flexplate fitment I have now found out that the motor is a 302. I am not 100% sure on going with the 302 now but in case what differences am I looking at for the flywheel & spacer plate?
I believe from my research this means a totally different flexplate. Possibly a smaller O.D. 157 tooth flexplate? Also does the same spacer plate D2TZ-7007-A work for this application?
Thanks

Is the spacer plate the same part # D2TZ-7007-A?

I have been searching and looking through the part numbers that Bill provided above and it looks like the part # could be D90Z-7007-A. However, the part number D2T2-7007-A shows that it will work with a 240, 300, 302, 351W with A/T.
I just want to confirm before painting in case I need to return the plate that I currently have.
Thanks in advance.
