360 or 390?

Sorry for asking this guys I'm not familiar w/ the FE engines I my self have always been around the 351M and 400's. But a buddy of mine was interested in a 390... how can a person tell the difference from the bad mouthed 360 and the good 390? thanks in advanced.

A guy here is building a 500hp 360. My 390 with the same kind of parts is only making 418hp. The only way to tell the difference with the engine together is to measure the stroke through the spark plug hole. A 360 is 3.5" and a 390 is 3.78".
