A-pillar gauge pod question

I am looking to install a gauge pod in my truck for Boost, Pyro, and Tranny Temp gauges. From install information I have found, it sounds like the gauge pod is a piece that installs OVER your existing A-pillar trim piece. You have to drill three holes to run the wires through. Am I correct in this assumption? Are there other brands that make a gauge pod that replaces the stock piece entirely? I would hate to later on want to remove the gauges (who knows, the wife may want the grab handle back, or I may want to move it to a newer/different truck) then have three holes in the trim piece. Or should I just not worry about it, drill the holes, and buy a replacement piece later if I want to go back to the stock look?

I don't think the X-monitor is an alternative option for me because I really like analog gauges.

Thanks.

You really don't HAVE to drill the holes in the stock pillar, there are two rather wide holes in it anyway from where the grab handle mounts. You can run the gauge wires through them. That's what I did. However, to mount the pod onto the pillar, you do have to drill the holes for the little screws that hold the pod on. As for a direct replacement I have never seen one.
