anybody tried those easy-out drill bits to remove rusted bolts? i snapped off three bolts when trying to remove my bucket seats from the floor#!!. i was thinking of just drilling them out, and using a new nut and bolt thru the same hole. i also need to patch the passenger floor, i have a elongated hole about 8 to 10 inches clear through the floor, a loot of heat comes up out of there from the exhaust pipe. anybody got any cheap repair ideas that will withstand the heat in that area? i don't want to buy a floor pan. (even if i could get one) thanks for any ideas! rick

floor pan is only 30 bucks per side...can take it to a local exhaust shop or mechanic and have them weld it in for a few bucks...could even drill holes and bolt it down and maybe put some kind of sealer or insulation to seal it airtight

I've never had much luck with easy-out's on rusted bolts. Personally, I would drill them out and retap them (assuming there is a blind nut on the basckside).
thanks for the input, there is a nut on the backside of those seat brackets. (that would be the underside of the van.) looks like a nut welded to a small piece of angle iron for reinforcement.i've thought of making my own bracket and bolt it onto the floor pan, although it probably won't be as sturdy as oem. but gotta bolt it too something.
as far as the floor pan, i think i'll look around it the hardware store for sheet metal. i was concerned that what ever i put there will warp from the heat....i'm re-doing the carpet. its been wet under there for years i guess. rick
