spare stolen
hi
new here!
anyone else have the indignity of their spare stolen from their f-150??
had a flat last week and when i cranked the spare down from the crade that holds it under the bed... nothing. it was gone.
any one have this experience??
mine is a 1997 f-150 4x4... what would be the replacement wheel size?? thinking of calling the local boneyards for a replacement.

Yes, it's very common. You might want to look on eBay for a replacement that matches your regular wheels. I did that so that I can use the spare in the regular rotation and get some wear out of it.

Is the metal plate located on the end of the cable still there? I'm referring to the plate that fits through the hub hole on the spare tire wheel and secures the wheel in place. If it isn't, it's possible that the cable has broken due to corrosion, and that some poor schlub in a minivan had the surprise of his life the other day when your spare dropped by to see him.
