Hey been a couple weeks since I have stopped in but, my ext cab is really coming along due to the sick amount of time I have been putting in I'll have some more pictures as soon as the batteries charge for the camera. As my ext cab becomes closer to being finished (this is only my daily driver) I am trying to plan out my 94 standard cab (currently 351w (broken rod) C6 NP 208 full size solid axles 3 link front 9 inch lift 79 bronco coils ect). After the thousands upon thousand of dollars lifting and maintaining (it gets drove hard and put up wet) I want to start all over. This time it will be lowered tubbed and at least a 4.6l sohc but, I would perfer a 4.6 or 5.4 dohc if I can find one at a reasonable price.
Anyways on to the fox body subframe topic. Has anyone done it? Thought about it? Dreamed about it? I have a pretty good idea how I am going to tackle this project. Just looking to see if anyone else has some pointers. I already have a 92 mustang in the backyard (blown 2.3l not sure if it is the same as 5.0 but I'll check before the swap). The reason I want to use the mustang sub frame is because it is wider. Making choice the engine swap donars list a mile long (seen a 93 stang with a dohc 5.4 out of a navigator). Also all of the mustang high performance suspension products will make future upgrades nice. As far as I can see making a set of tubular upper strut mounts should be the only major problem since I have done a couple of camaro sub frame swaps (48 ford truck and a 55 chevy truck). Keep in mind that I pretty much have to use/want to use a ifs/rack and pinion suspension because I cut/grinded all of the stock ranger suspension off. Including both center drops, radius arm brackets, spring buckets, steering box (currently full hydralic drive by hose and ram setup) and swaybar brackets. So all I really have to work with is a couple of bare frame rails that are to close together for any ohc engine. Well it's 1:15 in the morning and I have to leave for work in 5 hours. I'll try to get some pictures of the more complete ext. cab posted tomorow. Thanks in advance to any available information.
