help? front suspension upgrade ideas.
I have built a couple 12 second drag cars (nothing too impressive), but never built anything for taking a corner. I have a project idea that i am thinking about building.
I came across a pretty decent deal on a 1990 ford f-250 2wd, 460/5 speed, cab and chassis truck. I have not bought it yet. I want to make this truck in to a little bit of a prow touring truck. now I know what your thinking, "what the hell? you want to make that handle?". I just want it to be on par with some of the low to mid range pro touring cars. not looking for anything to mop up porches, and top dollar Camaro/mustang builds. just something to take to the auto x, and bomb around on the mountain roads. the truck will be getting gutted ( shooting for 3000#'s) and shortened up a lot. looking for a 112"-124" wheelbase.
the truck has the twin beam ifs, I am not a fan of this set up, never have been. It does what it needs to do, but that's about it. I am thinking about using a crown Vic front sub-frame up front. What I would like to know is what the front frame width for a 1990 f-250 is? I have herd from some people that it is 35" outside of frame rail to outside of frame rail. is that correct? I am still looking for the sub frame mounting point width currently.
thanks a bunch,
MiniMe
