Reccomend A Good Complete Stereo System

I am wanting to put a complete new system in a 1994 Ranger, if I buy it. But, I've never had any amps or subwoofers, so I really need someone to reccomend them for me.

Here's where I stand... I listen to mostly 80's rock, (i.e. Guns N' Roses, Aerosmith, Ted Nugent, Kiss, AC/DC, etc. etc.). I really want the speakers to be able to carry a good sound for this type of music. The CD Player must be capable of playing CD-R's and be dependable.

Here's what I'm looking for:

CD Player capable of controlling amplifier and possibly a CD changer.
6x8" and 6x9" speakers that will work good for my musical preferences.
8" subwoofers capable of sounding good and doing their job.
Amplifier that has enough juice to power two 8" subs.

This Ranger is a SuperCab, so I do have room for all of this. I would like for the amp to have 100W at least. My budget is $500. This might be a task getting a complete system for that price, but I'm gonna try. It must all come from Crutchfield.

Thanks for your time everyone .

You will really be pushing the 500 dollar limit ordering all from crutchfield, however if you can build your own box for the subs that will save, otherwise I'd recomend going with a single 10" woofer, should save about 120, will have about the same output if not better depending on sub purchased. I have always been a pioneer fan in the past, treated me well. The subs and amp, would go with rockfords. Hope this helps some, but all from crutchfield for under 5 is really pushing it.

for the amp i think i would go with rockford, always liked em...subs i guess would possibly be rockfords too. i like Pioneer decks, good prices, good tuning capabilities, and can handle a good system behind em. speakers are up to u IMO...too many brands out there that are decent sounding....pioneer, fosgate, alpine, i have Lightening Audio 6.5 and 6x8's and they sound awesome too (possibly cuz they are cheapy versions of fosgates, or so i've been told by a stereo guru) i got my speakers from wal-mart for like $80 total. (dont like to admit it, but i did)

I have, and always will use, Pioneer. Their decks are the best by far. The fact that they are usually the best price as well is just an added bonus. Speakers will amaze and dazle you with the highs, but they do not make an 8in. sub. Try using a 10 instead. I use two 12's and i'm afraid of blowing out my rear window, yet they sound wonderful and lower volumes too. Their amps seem great, although my current amp is my first Pioneer amp so I can't speak for all of them. They have always been just a bit out of my price range before. Good luck.

P.S. If you must use Crutchfield, try looking in their scratch and dent section to help save a little more.

Nvm... I might go to Circuit City and just have them install it. I've pretty well decided to go with a Pioneer deck. I do have an error though...

It seems that the doors on this Ranger has 5x7's or 6x8's instead of 6.5's. I'll probably just make it look stock without two 6x9's in boxes and just have an upgraded set of 5x7's in all of the doors, (4 speakers in all). Are Pioneer's 5x7's any good?

I'll probably forget the amps and subs also lol. I don't really need them for the type of music that I listen to anyway and it's just more headache trying to figure out what to go with.

What other 5x7's would you reccomended?

Thanks in advance .

i had a set of pioneer ts-0680r's (6x8s) in my truck and they really sounded good. they are the yellow 2 ways with a silk dome tweeter and are 250 watts max. i could hook you up with the pair if you wanted as they are just sitting around the house, just email with a deal you think is fair.

Thanks for the offer Bill. I might let you know something if nothing else turns up .

I have the following picked out as of now;

Pioneer PIO DEHP6600 CD Player
Polk 6x8" PLK DB570 Speakers

I have also had good luck with Polk speakers, so I thought that I would use them again.

Let me know what you guys think about what I have picked out.

never used Polk speakers...but the deck should be awesome. i have the 6400, my buddy has the 6500, and the 6600 is just a step above both of em. should be a great deck. i've had absolutley no probs with mine...one thing i really like is that it hardly ever skips. flyin down praire trails at 90 mph and it just keeps on a playin...

Hey Nightrain make sure check around for that head unit. I was gonna buy the DEH-P4600MP from Best Buy for around 160, and I ended up getting it for 120 on sale @ Circuit City. They even hooked me up with free installation. Great headunit nothing spectacular but the MP3/WMA playback is great.
