Heater core shutoff valve?
Is it possible to put a valve in the heater core supply hose to cut off flow in the summer? It seems that it's impossible to keep it from pumping out heat even when the heat control is all the way off. I'm concerned about possible damage to the heater core and hoses. Will stagnant coolant harm anything?

Check around your heater box for a loose vacuum line, I had one on mine and I didn't know what it was until one day I tried to see if it had vacuum and to my suprise the temp selector controlled it. So I took the valve off my old chevy and put it on there and now it works great! You need a valve that's normally open.
Really easy to install, just raise whichever hose as high as you can and slice it open, I had no leakage, then just slip in the valve and tighten the clamps, and you're done!
