Radiator Fluid

I am planing on changing out my radiator fluid this weekend, is it ok if I just drain it all out and put new or do I need to do a flush? I have heard that a flush can loosen things and damage you're engine. Is this true? Oh and I bought this truck used, and when I bought it it had, and still has, the orange coolant, it Is is suppost to have the green could I encounter any probs with this change?

JerNla, you can do either one. As new as yours is, it shouldn't have any scale to clog up anything, if you want to flush it. A drain and refill is what I did to mine.

Ford does not recommend the long-life/orange coolant, and the 2000 owners manual states to only use the green type. There has been corrosion problems with the orange type in the past. I would stick with the green, and mix it 50/50 with distilled water.

Why do you think it has Orange in it?? I bought it used at 24000 miles, and at time it had the orange coolant in it, could there allredy be some damage done? I am putting green back in it (pre mixed 50/50) just waiting for it to cool !
