96 - No Start - maybe fuel pump? HELP!

Hi -- I have a '96 XLT 4.0L V6 that doesn't want to start. The engine turns strong but just doesn't start up. This morning it fired up and drove fine -- now the starter just turns the engine. I've checked for spark and have it. I checked the fuel system pressure (turning key on and off 5+ times to build pressure) and don't seem to have any at the valve. Also, I don't here the typical whirring/clicking of the fuel pump when the key is turned to 'on' position (not the start position). Any suggestions before I have to drop the tank to get at the pump? Is there a way to test the pump without dropping the tank?

I'd start with the fuel pump relay which is an easy fix. If not, it could be the fuel pump itself. Also, you should check the crash reset switch.

check the fuel sensor... it maybe loose....trust me i thought about changing the fuel pump but i took it to my friend who's a mechanic and he said it was a loose sensor

Give the gas tank a good whack with your hand & see if that gets the pump running. And like marragtop said fuel pump relays are cheap. Other than that, you need a wiring diagram to test the fuel pump circuit.
