Question on Outlook 2002

I've noticed that when I send avi's and mpgs in Outlook 2002 (full blown, not express), it hangs for an eternity, repeatedly trying to resend over and over. A meager 5Mb file can take 15 minutes before Outlook finally allows it to be sent. The person on the other end does not have a full mail box. I've looked for and at settings, including my firewall and AV software, but can't find anything to fix this. Anyone know the cure? Thanks.

Check your attachment size limit with your e-mail provider. One of my accounts has a 3 Meg limit and if the file is close to the limit size it does exactly as you described. A 5 Meg file is a pretty good size attachment.

Could be your anti-virus software checking the file before Outlook can get it out the door, assuming you're using broadband and not dialup. Like SHartman says, 5 mb is a fairly large file. Or ... you may want to check that you haven't told your system (via Outlook's built in protection) not to send or receive avi's or mpgs.
