AC Noise

AC Noise
When the AC compressor is running, I hear a "chattering" noise when standing outside the vehicle near the front passenger tire. Goes away when the AC is turned off. Is this normal? I didn't notice this noise before but I can't hear it from the driver's seat. It's a 03 E350 with 5.4 L and the AC air temp is nice and cold.

Is it normal to hear the compressor noise over the engine noise at an idle on the Ford while standing by the passenger side fender? May be a dumb question because always could on previous vehicles, but not sure about the contemporary Fords (these things seems to be getting quieter as time goes on). If so, I may only be hearing a normal noise and will not pursue further at this time since it seems to work great in cooling.
