I used the a/c for the first time this year on my 2013 F250 and heard some noises I don't remember hearing before. When the a/c(or defrost) is on every 12 sec or so I hear a hissing sound that lasts for a couple of seconds then goes away. Is this the compressor cycling and if so is it normal to hear it inside the cab?
I know it has to do with the a/c because if I shut it off as the hissing sound is being made the sound will instantly stop. Other than the noise the a/c works fine and blows cold air.
Also, if it matters I have the standard control panel, not climate control.

You can always have your dealership inspect, fordman19762003. If you don't want to make a special trip, you can have your service tech check things out the next time you're in for an oil change. What's your truck's mileage?

Fordman19762003, I have that same hissing noise in my truck too, seems to do it anytime the a/c or defrost is on, and also about every 10 or 12 seconds.
I mentioned this to the dealer twice and they tell me it is just cycling and its normal, for some strange reason I'm finding that a little hard to believe.

thanks, at least I know I'm not hearing things. It's probably been doing it since I bought it but I never heard it before because I usually have the radio turned up loud enough that it would drown the hissing sound out. Lately I've been leaving the radio off and you pick up a lot of "new" noises when it's so quite in the cab.
Mine has been doing that since I bought it. Its normal to hear a bit of hissing when turning the a/c on or off or defrost, but this is the first time hearing it cycle like that, other trucks I've owned last one being an'06 Super Duty never made that noise.
