are there reflashes for the '04's ? I'm very dissatisfied with the performance of my 04 versus my 03. it doesn't pull as well as the 03 as sick as the 03 was. the fuel economy is consistently 16.5 intown or highway unloaded--13 pulling 4000lb camper in the hills. It just doesn't pull like the 03 but then the 03 was a rocket when new too. ageraged better than 18 highway and unlimited speed til they reflashed it--grrrrrrrr

Sorry--I got to rambling--My original question was about a reflash for 04 6.0l to improve performance/ mileage. what I meant about the unlimited speed on my 03 was that it had no speed limiter when I first purchased it and would peg the needle down past 100 quickly--I really don't know how fast it would go but it never quit to redline

My 03 was awesome until the Oct flash. Even then it gets 17-18 on the highway. Add a Predator with the 65hp tune and it will bring it back to better than the way it was before. Ask Choctaw Bob who has a Predator on top of an earlier flash.

Also I thought I saw jdadamsjr post something on some dyno runs that made it look like 03 put out better numbers than 04's. But that was with mods, etc. Don't think it was apples and oranges comparison.

Soooo. What I'm hearing is this 400.00 tuner will "help" in the pursuit of getting my mileage back? If it adds just 2mpg it'll pay for itself in no time.
The dealer called me back.....Blah, blah, blah....nothing new from Ford to fix my problem. I still think I'll talk to the tech and ask if it coulda been a bad flash..Heck, I dont know...I just want to pull the rest of my hair out Know what I mean? Thanks

I know exactly what you mean! The truck doesn't run bad stock. It is still impressive. It just doesn't run like it did before the flash. The Predator makes up the difference. You will be okay if you don't get too carried away.

Choctaw Bob has an older flash and the predator works on his truck....
I have the latest (Dec) flash... but am looking to go back to Bob's if possible...

And
Actually the 04 does put out less HP...
don't know why, but that's what I've seen posted...

We figured out how to download the factory tune that the Predator stores to a PC. From there we can burn a CD or diskette. It is small. What I haven't figured out how to do is to upload it back into the Predator to restore the factory original tune. The theory being we can take Bob's factory tune to a PC. make a copy. Upload Bobs factory tune to my/your Predator so it thinks Bobs factory tune is my/your factory tune then do a "Restore Original" tune.
But there are some hiccups here. I think the Predator stores your VIN and uses to lock the Predator to your vehicle. Does it get the vin from your original factory tune? I need some software specs. Or get in touch with someone that does custom tunes. Anybody with any ideas?

I knew he had been working with someone on it... So u da man ?!?

Yes, the vin lock is probably the issue....
but if it's the original tune I'm pretty sure the Predator is not UPDATING the code when we get updates from them...
it's a complete RE-load of the predator program...
BIG DIFFERENCE .... I have the cell phone number of one someone there that REALLY knew his stuff when I mucked up mine by shutting it down in the middle of an upload...
I may give him a call on Monday....

A. It locks to the vehicle's VIN.
B. The custom tuning isn't yet available for the 6.0.
C. No one at Diablo is going to give specs for unlocking the VIN. It would be suicide to sales --- ie, piracy of performance tunes.
