Latest FLASH?
I believe i read that the predator was able to change rev limit, adjust shift and speed but i have not been able to figure it out yet.
predator will not do rev limiter, or allow adjutabel shifts... but it will remove spped limiter...
It will change the shift line pressure to allow quicker shifts, but the rev limit is not necessary...
it goess thru the gears so FAST, you wont need the rev limiter changed....
Try your 1/4 with just the predator - you'll be surprised... shifts better than if you were power shifting a std...
it is AT least +100 RWHP and mine measured 710 ftlb ...

I am sure this all is their billing codes. It definitely idles differently and does not have much of a knock at idle.
Symptoms addressed:
Improved cold hard acceleration at High Altitude
Runs Rough after Extended Idle Cold Starts at High Altitude
Rough idle immediately following Cold Start
P2263 DTC MIL turned OFF on non California applications
Torqshift Harsh 3-2 coasting downshifts or clunk on tip-in/tip-out only in tow haul mode
P0299 Changes
P0500 Changes on Manual Transmission
Torqshift Harsh reverse engagements on Low Mileage trucks
You should be ok.
Since then my mileage has gone down to a measly 14.1..3 or so MPG freeway. No towing or heavy loads, just Cruising at 70 mph..like before.
Anyways I was checking out this thread and want o get your opinions as to whats the "latest" update. Is that B29.6 v just for the 04 motor?
I called the dealer and I had TSB 03-20-12 done on Jan 7, 2004. I have a sticker under the hood to reflect that. That TSB is v B27.9.
It's a June 03 motor. 6L w/torqueshift trans. The advisor on the phone looked up my vin and couldn't tell me if this "update" was available. The dealer is going to call me back after they talk to the deisel tech.
A little confused...can anyone shed some light?
Thanks,
Ford took some mileage from me and I want it back. Even if it's 1 or 2...but would like back all 4.

Might be a little louder but I don't care, it is a diesel for crying out loud.
No change to gas mileage.
Idle was improved.
Have not gotten the latest December update, since it doesn't appear to offer a whole lot.
FLASH contains the executable code the microcontroller runs along with various data tables. It is non volatile memory, meaning it is not erased when power is removed.
When the dealer reflashes, I am 90% sure they just reflash the entire memory. Then the dealer performs diagnostics to repopulate the calibration tables.
I imagine the performance enhancing gadgets out there just mess with the various tables.
I've often wondered if problems folks have after reflash aren't related to poor execution of recalibration procedures.
What was your mileage before the flash?
Do you have an 03 or 04 motor?
Thanks

We have the same motor build, same trans, same gears. Same drivetrain, different body configuration. I'm running 35's with mine and was then still getting 18mpg...not anymore. ????? Any ideas? Thanks

Sorry for the confusion. Should have put info in the message title, easy to over look.
Currenlty running the October FLASH not the Dec FLASH.
My only input is from the previous message, "I've often wondered if problems folks have after reflash aren't related to poor execution of recalibration procedures."
Maybe have your dealer run a diag and then rerun calibration procedures.
There is one other possibility. There are always tolerance issues with mass producing anything. This should be handled via the calibration tables in the FLASH. It is possible something in your motor is further out of tolerance then spec allows, so that the general algoriths don't work right. Or the programmers/engineers didn't proper compensate for valid tolerances in their code. Lots of variables to take in account, from manufacturing tolerances to climate ranges.
My daily drive consists of about 20 miles to work. 1/2 highway 1/2 back roads. I run 70-85 mph on the highway. It can't be that I'm lighter then you, I'm about 260 pounds.

NOTE: There were the same complaints of reduced mileage when the October FLASH was released.
