AFAIK, GM hasn't offered a production V10. They were still using big block V8's for large displacement gassers last time I cared. About a year ago the Dodge dealer told me that they are phasing out their V10 in production trucks, now that the they have the 345 Hemi V8 gasser. Most people prefer the Cummins diesel for a work Dodge anyway. The Dodge V10 is almost 500 cubic inches and rather hard on gas. The Ford modular V10 is smaller displacement and therefore more efficient overall. However, the new Dodge SRT race truck uses the Viper V10.
I would keep my gasser anyday. With all the expensive repairs on diesels I can bore out my V10 with that money, as it is, it has a long stroke. My V10 is one powerful engine despite my 6 inch lift and all it's hell of strong at 2000 rpm. I rarely go past 2000 rpm. no need. Unlike GM's. They have to rev past this to get power. HIGH RPM ruins peoples engines. Just my $.02
I reckon we are gonna be getting into the diesel vs. gasser arguement here now??
We all know they each have their pros and cons, it all depends on what you want to use it for and what you prefer. I have a diesel right now and don't think I'd ever get a gas truck again. But I still love the healthy sound of a big block V-8, have a buddy that has a 383 in a '78 short box truck for drag racin' (I know it's a chevy ) but boy do I love to hear that thing fire up. Music to my ears!!

What expensive repairs? A diesel can go much longer before a "tune up" than a gas engine. Additional maintenance cost for my truck is extra oil at oil changes, fuel filters, and coolant additive. I change my own oil for about $35, fuel filters are $15 every 10-15K, and coolant additive is about $6 every 20K. Not only does my diesel get better mileage than your V10, I have more torque at lower RPM. Did I forget to mention that diesel is about $.22/gallon cheaper around here than gas right now?
I don't like to get into the gas vs diesel debates, but I can't help but respond to that kind of unimformed statement.

Ok, but lets say you spend that extra $5000 plus you spent for a diesel and spend it on a v-10 instead. You can add a supercharger, computer mods, intake and exhaust work done, and transmission work done to the v-10 that would blow away the diesel in every way shape and form. It would be lighter, faster, and tow more.
You could do that... but then what was the point of saving the $5000 for a gasser if you go and blow it all to equal the performance of a diesel??
Exactly. Not only that, the $5K is MSRP and noone in their right mind pays MSRP. Even with those mods, the V10 won't have the low end torque of the PSD. I also bought my PSD used so I didn't pay anywhere near $5K more. With todays fuel prices, it's smarter than ever to buy a diesel.

That V-10 would absolutely destroy a diesel. Dont even try to kid youself that it would equal a diesel And the point in spending that money is that you would have a much greater truck that would out-pull, be much faster, and lighter than the diesel. So, why spend the money on the diesel??
Id stay away from Diesel, unless you need to tow a house, and if you dont mind the smell and sound of a diesel
Same oil change intervals, no ignition system to go wrong, diesels are already built heavy-duty because of the nature of the way that they're designed diesel is cheaper than gas, you get longer life from a diesel, and you get tons more power from a diesel. Yeah, I'll trade that for the noise and the smell.

You're kidding yourself if you believe that. I'm glad you're happy with your truck but you are a bit dilusional.
