Engine Flush with Diesel?

I just bought a 95 PSD crew cab, auto, 4.10 with 100K miles. Somebody recommended that I put a quart of diesel in the engine and run it until the engine was warm then change the oil and filter. Then change the oil and filter 2 to 3 additional times in the first month. They said I would be suprised how well the engine would respond. Does this make sense? Has anybody heard of or tried this?

Engine Flush with Diesel?

I had an engine rebuilt one time, and before I got it running I had to drop the pan to work on the oil pump. Somebody else had rebuilt it and it had not been hot tanked and there was still a lot of sludge in it. The first oil change I did was about 300 miles out and I decided to use "Engine Flush" on it. I followed the directions exactly. When I dumped it in it looked, smelled, and tasted exactly like #1 kerosene. It did a good job though. Since then, when it's time to change the oil, I go down to the local fuel station that sells diesel and put 25 cents worth of diesel in the crankcase and drive home 2-5 miles, and I change my oil. It does an outstanding job. Usually the oil stays clean and doesn't start to turn dark until it's time to change again 2-3000 miles. I swear by it, and have never had any adverse reactions by doing it. One word of caution. In my earlier days of doing this I put $1.00 worth in my Chevelle and almost couldn't get it started again because it cleaned all the oil out it.

Be careful and be advised that the T444E holds about three quarts of oil in the high pressure oil pump reservour, any flush agent will be in that too. you might try rislone or marvel mystery oil with the oil, or flushing a couple of gallons of oil through it in rapid oil changes, but be careful as the PSD uses the oil viscosity to run the injectors. so if you do flush it out you will want to change the oil again real quick.

I'd read up on additives and there's an article in the tech section of this forum that covers them pretty thoroughly.

Engine Flush with Diesel?

As an FYI, diesel makes an excellent penetrating fluid for rusty, sticky parts, bolts. And it's far cheaper than WD40.
