I'm looking for information on performance/power chips for a 1999-2000 Power Stroke. US Gear doesn't make one yet so I am looking for other manufacturers.
I did check with them but they don't have anything available for the 2000 model yet. I DID find that ATS in has a chip and a 4" cat back exhaust kit for the '99-'00 Superduty. The told me they were part of the engineering team that worked on the PSD with Ford. Not sure if it's true but I'll post a message after I have the chip and exhast installed this week and let you know how it went.
Superchips installed their power chip and a 4" cat-back exhaust in my '00 F-350 PSD. The difference is AMAZING! We put it on a dyno afterward and it's putting out 315 hp and 650 ft/lb torque. The install only took an hour. I highly recommend this for any one looking for a little more out of an already potent engine!
Just bought a 99 stroke.F250
Is there any chance of engine damage with a Per. chip installed?. How is the mileage affected?.
The engine has plenty power, just not off the line. Is is worth it to install one? Thanks
Their product isa called the OttoMind. This chip is a Programmable ROM chip. The requirements to get this chip are to copy the numbers off of your computer in the truck. Located by removing the parking brake assembly mounting hardware and swinging the assembly to the right. The ECM is located in the left kick panel. For every product that Banks makes for your ECM all that is required is to send the chip to Banks and they reflash or reprogram the chip for FREE for your Git-Kit, Stinger, Stinger Plus or PowerPack.
I really like the way my truck runs now - its a bear! Best part is that it doesn't void any waranty. Check out the web site.
I just finished a 5000 mile trip towing 12,000 lbs and the chip worked extrememly well. The transmission never came out of overdrive and I had the cruise set at 75-80 mph most of the time. That was over the Rockies, too.
I have noticed about a 1-2 mpg increase in fuel economy when I'm not romping on the gas. I can spin the tires off the line. The engine never ran hot.
I checked into the Ottomind and it, with all of the other stuff Banks tries to sell you, is too costly and the performance increase they claim is not near what I have actually seen with the ATS package. I researched both of them but for diesels, ATS is the way to go. Banks is great for gas engines.
Can you give me an idea of the installed price of the Superchips improvements? Also any other info would be helpful. - like a web site or contact number for local dealers. It is a long way from Nashville TN to Utah.
Banks offers good products, but i think there chip is on the weak side, and believe me, it will feel real strong, but soon you'll want more. Superchips are good chips, try motorhaven.autoanything.com
i've collected some performance tips i've learned from other websites, check them out at my homepage.
