Likelihood of problems?

Ok, I've spent the last hour or so reading this forum, and you've all but scared me off of a new 6.0.

If I buy one of these, am I pretty much guaranteed problems? Idle problems, oil leaks, new engines, etc?

Are there any happy owners of 6.0's out there?

I am a very happy 6.0 owner. Still haven't got the smile off my face with the way this truck performs.

I am very happy as well. The truck runs just as good as any other truck or car you will buy.

I have 4000 miles on the truck and have no complaints. Truck runs very strong on the highway and averages 18.5 to 19 mpg at 75 to 80 mph.

I felt the same way about the F250 psd after reading the posted threads. Realized there is no comparison to the number of satisified 6.0L owners and the few who post bad 6.OL experiences.

At this point in my psd ford ownership I would do the same purchase over agian.

I have one of the early 03's. It is awesome. Great truck. I had a few issues that were all resolved with the dealer. It is powerful and great to drive. My wife likes it better than her Honda Accord.

The posts here represent only a few of the many truck owners out there. You have both owners that are happy and others who are not. There are some who come onto this forum and make claims and they don't even own a 6.0. So don't base your evaluation on what you read here. Go drive one and make sure you wipe the grin off your face when you are negotiating a price.

You're a smart person to do the research before hand. I did too and made sure I got an 03 with the good injectors, which was suppose to make all the problems go away. It did fix the injector problems but not the others, of course.

Your odds of having problems with this motor are higher than most other motors available today, IMO. Not everyone has problems and a lot of the problems are fixed at the dealership level. You'd sure hope the majority of them are fairly reliable. But this is still far from what I'd call a good bet on the reliability front.

I have 8000 miles on my 04 PSD cc with a build date of 1/21/04 and wouldn't think twice about buying another,, I think the amount of happy owners far out weights the ones that had trouble. Plus those with the trouble you are going to hear more about because all the happy owners are cruising down the roads with their tongues hanging out like the day they first saw their new truck,,

I love my truck @ 3,800 miles. Your diesel options are limited. Chevy / GMC? No stinking way. Dodge? May be a good truck but the Cummings has it's own problems plus, you better drive it a long time to get a decent return on your value to investment.

Go for it & good luck.

Absolutely incorrect, did you read all there is, over 7k worth of words, then you would know that there are far more with no problems than with. It is well documented in this area that the numbers of great trucks with no problems are NOT represented. That is a fact!

Sorry to disagree with your view of this truck.
I am not attacking you merely stating a point.
I love my truck and yes it has had a few issues, all have been fixed.
Mine is one of the quote "bad" ones.

18,000 trouble free miles on my June 03 6.0. This is a great truck for towing my 3 horse trailer all over the mountains. I'd buy another in a heart beat.

And he is still unhappy! Therein lies the problem. Some see things negatively and others see things positively. I take the square root of what I read on the Internet.

Good injectors! There are people running C94's with no problem at all! And what problems were the C95 injectors supposed to fix.

Andym, I think you fell for all the negative hype. Don't buy one. You would join the ranks of the people with headaches and ulcers worrying about what hasn't happened.

28K miles and HATE it when my wife wants us to go in her NICE Lincoln LS v8 premium sport - thank goodness she rarely wants to !
It has ALL the bells and whistles and free maintenance for 4 years, but I still like to drive the Ex...
It is more comfortable, safer, faster, gets as good mileage, only thing it DOESN'T do as well as hers is corner... but it holds it's own !

Granted with ANYTHING you can get a bad one!
(my first wife had to be traded in )

but I could not say this is an unreliable motor...
it is fast - it is strong - it is fun !
