The antique tractors board listed above is an excellent source of information. If you want parts for a Ford 2N, 9N, or 8N, you can't beat www.just8ns.com. If you can't locate what you want, just give them a call. Don Barkley is a great guy to deal with.
exsept whatever you are pulling it with has to be able to pull all of that torque around, which most tractors can't, or at least cant get enough traction to do.
We pulled it with our F-250 PSD and trust me...traction and power was the least of our worries! We did that twice and nothing happened so I guess we'll buy some more lubricant tonight and spray in it. Thanks for all the replies!
Grey- I agree, you see all kinda of trucks come to truck pulls and they throw off driveshafts and break motor mounts, but those old 40's-50's tractors can take it time and time again. hats off to them.
I had the same problems with a John Deere "B", it was sitting in water (Due to flooding) up to the bottom of the motor mounts. Once we got it out of the water we drained all the fluids, put diesel down both of the spark plug holes, filled the rear diff with diesel, and let it sit until the next Saturday.
We went out the next week-end and hooked up an old thrashing belt from one tractor to the other, put a little tension on the belt and that motor started to turn.
We then drained the fuel out of the crakcase filled it with oil and started it by hand. The thing ran perfect. We drove it around the yard to get the diesel moving around in the diff. then drained that filled with oil and it has been running ever since.
