I just changed pads and shoes and when I finished up I noticed a small puddle underneath my driver's side wheel well. I popped the hood and my resivoir for the master cylinder looked like it overflowed (with the cap on) and it is full to the brim. My brake warning light isn't on but I have no pressure. I bled the rear's and no air came out. I can't loosen the front bleeders. I'd appreciate any help.
You probably got brake fluid out the top because the new pads were a lot bigger than the old ones so when you put them on it pushed the fluid back through the lines and ended up overflowing the resevoir. After you put on pads the brakes usually won't work until you pump the pedal several times. Don't know if this helps, but they are both common things that occur and you might want to check.
I pumped the breaks more than several times and still nothing, I'm thinking about going to get new calipers , I'm guessing the bleeder screws on those wont be bad. Thanks.
ABB Yeah, I tightened the slack adjusters (wasn't sure what they were called) and all the springs are back on. Front calipers were $18.99 ea. plus $12 ea. core charge so I'm going to replace my old rusted out one's anyway. Stupid me I didn't take the cap off of my MC and I probably blew a seal. So, what was supposed to be a $60 job (pads and shoes) is going to end up being a $150 job (pads\shoes, calipers, and new MC).
