I put the 4L3Z-16450-CAB on my SCREW. I understood them to be chrome plated alum. This style also comes in black. If you want a tailpipe looking bar down the side of your truck, go with westin. If you want a real nerf bar, go with Ford.

Maybe I should ask about function. The Westin's are so small I wonder if they really offer much use. Since the Ford's are flatter and wider, are they better for using to get into and out of the truck?

I actually plan to use these and don't want them just for looks, but of course, if one of them looks downright silly I'll pick the other.

Thanks again.

I got a set of Westin 6" ovals (and the're pretty darn wide, they also have a nice wide/long step pad). The mounting brackets are aprox 1/2" shorter then the Ford's so they sit higher on the truck. Westin ovals are also warrantied for life.

I have had both, the Westins on my old truck made by a not-Ford company and the Ford ones in black on my 02 Scab. I live in a part of Canada where there are lots of gravel roads and the finish on both got burned off by gravel.

My wife is short and she never liked the Westins complaining that they were too narrow. She definitely liked the Ford oval ones better. I have the composite boards on my new 04 Scab and she really likes them. What remains to be seen is how long it takes me to knock them off in the snow this winter.

One trick I have seen used on black nerf bars to make them more durable is to spray them with box liner spray. I have no idea what this costs, but it looks and stands up great.

I have the Ford 4" chrome nerf bars. I think they look like a better fit and they don't stick out very far. The black inserts look great and the mounting is more attractive to me.

I like the fact that they are oval and they don't stick out too far. I never use them but they are for my wife to access.
