78 Lariats

Was 1978 the first year for the Lariat option ? I just bought one and was wondering . My is wimbleton white with Tutone delete,400/C-6/NP205, tilt,crusie,A/C,sliding back window, dual tanks, Trac Loc rear end and limited slip front axle, handling package, tool storage box. Already had Edelbrock intake and Holley 4 bbl. And Trailmaster 4" lift and 35" tires. Has a little rust over wheel wells but is solid truck.

Were the camper specials 1/2 or 3/4 ton trucks?
The originall owner had a fifth wheel installed when the truck was new but I am to understand it was just a 1/2 ton.

You could get camper special in a 1/2, 3/4, or 1 ton truck. Although the super camper special with the 140" wheel base was only available in 3/4 & 1ton trucks

F-250's and F-350's were the only trucks able to upgrade to the camper special. If it was a camper special, it would also have dual batteries. Sounds like a fully optioned out F-150. I bet it got the trailer special package added to it also.

No, you could get camper special package in a a F150. I have 1979 truck sales brochure and it says "Light duty trailer tow package includes- Extra cooling, trailer wiring harness, HD flasher, trailer special emblem". Even on the HD trailer tow package it does not list "dual batteries" as part of the package.

What I meant to say was you could get a trailer special in a F150 not a camper special
neverenough was correct in saying the Camper Special was only available in the F250's & 350's. sorry I got confused between trailer special and camper special

My truck has the F 150, Ranger, XLT and Lariat badges. I can't think of an option it is missing but is this badging possible?
I have seen 1978's with F150 Ranger XLT and I have seen F 150 Ranger Lariat but never both XLT and Lariat.
Any ideal?
