have a 74 f100 and pulled the engine due to noise in bottem end need help with what engine i have engine is bored .030 over according to pistons need specs on rod leanth and bore for 352,360,390 engines and possibly some way to tell which it is engine is dissasembled machine shop says 352 but vin for truck says 360 is the crank diffront from a 352,360 engine i need new pistons and crank but do not know what will work rods are good just wanted to rebuild but i'm unsure on what i have and where to look crank only has a 12 on it only number anywhere will 390 pistons work or 360 or are they the same pistons i have heard that the bore is the same for all 3 and that a 352 and a 360 have the same rod but i don't know thanks for any info guys
thanks,for the reply so quickly is the stroke how long the rod is from the center of both ends of rod would any block or head numbers tell me which one it is the crank only has a 12 on it went back and rechecked this morning is the crank the same from a 352 to a 360 or diffront
You will find the number on the most forward journal of the crank. 21 is cast on the rod cap. Ford didn't put 352's in anything past 73, possibly earlier. 360, 361, 390, 391's (361/391 were only installed in trucks or FT motors). Your crank should have a 2T or 2TA if it is a 360. If it is a 390, then you will see a 2U/2UA or 3U
